- Thanks to Charlie Miller for the transfer
- Thanks to the folks responsible for gd73-03-24.sbd.hamilton.shnid1216
- Thanks to the folks involved in the WBOTB Project for gd73-03-24.sbd.cantor.diebert.shnid83407
- This composite utilizes 3 sources to provide a virtually complete show in one fileset, utilizing the best available sources as of 10/2017
- The Betty Board in general circulation has digital noise reduction processing applied to it
This transcription of the 2nd Set Betty Board does not have digital noise reduction
- The Betty Board in general circulation (shnid83407) has a cut in "Truckin'"
- "Bertha" (t01)had level/mix fluctuations for the first 1:30 or so. The level fluctuations were minimized
- shnid1216 source was missing most of the between song tunings/banter and had some abrupt between
song transitions, these transitions have been smoothed
- First several seconds of "Here Comes Sunshine" (t15) are missing
- While all copies had level/mix issues in the beginning of "Promised Land" (t19),the Betty Boards exhibited
more severe level/mix fluctuations than the shnid1216 MSR->C source, so the tuning and first 0:16 of
"Promised Land" are from the shnid1216 source and the level fluctuations were minimized
- Truckin'-> Jam-> Spanish Jam (t27)clocks in at 32:37

Get Back Truckin’ On!
O’h it’s on alright, don’t you worry. This Truckin’ has it all. High octane jamming, varying speeds and moods, plus crisp, delicate edges. It’s

like a show within a show all its own. Jerry leads the way but like all the best performances of this band, everyone is on point and combines to make something really special. C-freedom’s review nails the detailed take. In short, don’t miss it.

Only one show in Philly on this tour and wow do they get their $ worth. This is a very cool & gigantic first set. Easily one of my favorites of this
...
Spring Tour. I think the Don't Ease really brings it to another level quickly. Donna is singing from BIODTL onward. What focuses my attention is: Cumberland Box of Rain Row Jimmy-with Donna Jack Straw TLEO that is all pretty sweet!!! and since it is 1973 they got 9 more coming after that including a HCS and PITB. Note: the PLAYIN' jam is mainly atonal so it is trippy how they get back to the Main TEN NOTE: There are so many highlights here and no way I can remember everything from this recording. Hopefully, it is tucked safely in my brain somewhere. but SOUND ****** LIST***** JAMS***** HARMONIES***** downside-there are a couple of vocal flubs and we are talking 2 or 3 on a 31 song night but even those just provoke the band to grind it out. Set Two Just listening to the band as they head for Truckin' and they are a wonder to behold. Inside the Truckin at about ten minutes they seem to veer into the Dark Star but don't consummate it. What follows are some epic jazzy adventures. 18 minutes in and they are still exploring, This probably would have been the Dark Star>Eyes but this is way more free form. more abstract than Dark Star? Who would have 'thunk' it. the musicians are all giving their input and this is really what it was all about. Spanish Jam around 22 minutes in. Gives the band something to coalesce around. and everybody on the same page. where do they go from here. the reason this impresses me is they went so far out on the SPACE that the Spanish Jam is really solid 27 minutes and there is another drift towards SPACE Jerry sizzling and yes more free style noodling by both Phil & Jerry. Billy sounds like an entire orchestra. That is certainly one of the most unique pieces of music. I was already really digging this Spectrum show now I find it in a class with my absolute favorite shows. kinda cool that they melt into the Dark Star. I was wondering if Jerry was gonna sing it? He Does! There is tons of stuff that could be said but really the music speaks so beautifully for itself here, and yes I put this up with 2/15/73-Dane which is the highest complement that this HEAD reared on 2/15/73 can give. SING ME BACK HOME!!! Now that is a last ballad of the night- rarity check those harmonies. Bob Weir can lay down those harmonies Jerry just perfect on the vocals. A spot for Donna to shine. THE GOSPEL IS GOOD NEWS wise folks still seek HIM... Sugar Magnolia- more great harmonies These 73 Sugar Mag's are mighty swell. that pause between Sugar and the Sunshine just one of those nebulous GD moments. Talk about freaking & peaking. "Goodnight"-Weir e)Johnny B- so even though Weir sings most of it. I always considered it a Jerry offering. Wow they jammed that one.

minutes is beyond description. At almost 4 hours, this is prime Dead in workhorse mode, anticipating the coming fall with alacrity and confidence. The mods on Alligator also add to the evolving sound perfectly — biting but thin and jazzy. Definitely worth listening over and over again.
